In Memory of a Servant of the King
Kris Tackitt
December 25, 1924 - January 25, 2010

The life stories about Kris Tackitt are so many that volumes I am sure could be written.

What I remember about Kris was her love for people; so she would jump right into the mix and share in strength as a warrior. She was a no compromise person when it came to God's business. She would get right down to her calling and meet the need. All other things were laid aside to communicate with those who God had placed in her hands. In the middle of all that was happening her heart was in deep meditation as she desired to know the heart of her savior in the matter.

Her devotion was impeccable, her faithfulness unwavering, her love for Jesus served with perseverance, her stature a giant, her zeal again that of a warrior.

At times, I can remember this little lady who would come to me pointing her finger with the smile that melted your heart saying, Jesus loves you! She always made me feel important to her. She wanted to know what God was saying to me. She was to me a mentor afar off as we fellowshipped only a few times a year and she lived a long distance from us. However, her prayers were surely resident with me, especially when I was in need of by-pass surgery. Her phone call and encouragement along with many others were well served, but more than that anointed of God.

I will miss that little red head calling out to me with her shining white boots and Burgundy Chaplain uniform, which distinguished her from the crowd. The truckers she ministered to saw her coming and deferred to her beckoning. You see they respected her authority in God. They found solace. They found peace and safety. Even the slow of hearing, like the man I met in the truck stop who told of her grabbing his ear and saying "Come on Sonny, its time for church!" So he got up and followed dutifully, and found grace that night from the master!

Oh, what a precious leader that our Father in heaven is kissing and saying welcome home Kris, "You have fished the race, you have fought a good fight, now is laid up for you a crown of righteousness. Enter into my kingdom prepared for you!" Kris, may pain, no more death, for the former things have passed away! Your bother and fellow servant in the gospel.

Haiti Relief Update 2-10-10

“God help us!” Those were my words… time and time again as I surveyed the toppled buildings and concrete mountains of rubble stretching for miles along Haiti’s streets…a warzone of destruction wrapped in the unmistakable stench of death. Far worse than the images I’d seen on TV.

Desperate and hungry people, many still dazed by the 8-second earthquake that rocked their world on Jan. 12th, road the streets trying to survive another day. The most basic necessities of life…food, water and shelter…have become luxuries.

For us, this disaster is very personal. We have dear friends and family in Haiti, our ministry’s first mission outreach 57 years ago. Over the years, more than 300 churches have been planted, 10,000 children are being educated in our schools and 5,000 fed every day. A second generation of leadership has been raised up and is carrying on the work.

Last week, we traveled to our main headquarters churches in Haiti, and our hearts were broken to discover most of the churches, schools and homes are destroyed or damaged. Decades of hard work and sacrifice…gone in 8 seconds! Miraculously, our leaders and their families survived, as well as the boys and girls in both our orphanages. But they’re living in boxes and tents, their homes and possessions gone.

Yet, in the midst of this crisis, I have never seen such faith.

The Gospel has deeply penetrated the darkness of this island nation, once steeped in voodoo and witchcraft, and even in the midst of their loss these people are singing praises to God! Their faith is strong.

But they need our IMMEDIATE help…and WE HAVE A PLAN!

Eight Regional Distribution Centers

We have established eight Regional Distribution Centers to receive shipping containers or other bulk deliveries of relief aid throughout Haiti. Many organizations are generously sending relief to the nation, but are having difficulty getting it into the hands of needy people. We’re already set up to do this! Our Distribution Centers are walled, gated and secure church properties with honest, capable leadership. We are sending 40’ shipping containers to these locations and will offer the help of our Centers to any other churches and organizations that want to send bulk supplies to Haiti.

Supplies are being collected at Christian Retreat’s HAITI RELIEF COLLECTION CENTER. Our mission compounds in Haiti have been turned into massive makeshift tent cities with thousands of survivors seeking refuge. So we need tents, tarps and sleeping bags, along with basic non-perishable goods, clothing and personal hygiene items. Another way to help is to join our “Compassion in a Pail” project, filling a 5-gallon pail with basic necessities for a family. A business donation of 1,000 pails has launched this project and we are distributing these to individuals, churches, school and organizations along with a list of suggested items.

Haitian Orphans at Christian Retreat

We are working through the proper government channels to receive up to 100 children from our own orphanages, boys and girls, here at Christian Retreat. It’s heart-wrenching to see them living outdoors right now…because the buildings are severely damaged and need to be repaired or rebuilt. We feel responsible to bring these children to Christian Retreat temporarily while these repairs are made—and possible look into the adoption process for some of the orphans.

We Need Cash Donations

Frankly, that’s what we need most. We are receiving generous donations of relief supplies, but shipping and logistics are expensive. Also, we need to put cash into the hands of our leaders in Haiti for gasoline, equipment repairs and various incidents that are being donated.

I’m writing to you because I know you care. THANK YOU for giving your BEST gift of compassion today. YOU are a part of this proven ministry, and we must take care of those who depend on us for their very survival. We have been in Haiti for 57 years…and will continue to be there long after CNN has gone. Please fill out the response sheet and return with your gift, and include your prayer requests.

For the sake of the Gospel,

Phil Derstine

Jamboree
October 7 - 11, 2009

Many today are hungry for a deeper intimate relationship with Father God, Jesus and the power ofthe Holy Spirit that will equip them to walk out practical expressions of God's love, compassion and justice in their own lives to help others. The cry of men's hearts today are for both a new depth of relationship with God, and a greater impact on the individual lives God gives to us to impact.

Joel 2:28 -31
The LORD Will Pour Out His Spirit.
28 "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.
29 Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.
30 "And I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes.

It is clear that the grestest outpouring of the Holy Spirit with the spirit of prophecy and dreams and visions will occur just before Jesus returns.

At the Jamboree, be passionately prepare to give yourself to God in worship receiving so much more directly from Him in wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

God's ministry to us helps us increase the flame of diligent, passionate times of prayer with Him and giving us what we need for the last hour.

God ministers the power we all need in these last days to hear the Lord's voice clearly, and to cultivate the Spirit's power with prophetic revelation for our personal lives as well as in our ministry to others. We are totally nothing without our Lord. As we allow His expression to flood us, we have the power to contend for justice and express compassion to others.

The Word of God teaches us to Come & Gather and learn from Him. Become equipped to live a lifestyle of prayer that operates in the prophetic anointing and seeks godly justice & compassion in every sphere of life.

Soooo…Happy Independence Day to all of you highway drivers in the USA :)

I am excited to let you know that the staff at The Road Angel is growing and continues to increase. We have been blessed to have driver Brian with us for the past two days. We will all be having church service here in the sanctuary and Sunday dinner together and some good fellowship!

Brian has been enjoying his home away from home here and will be with us 'til Monday when he has to deliver his haul. Brian was able to get the ACT ice maker back up and running, which we very much appreciate. We found out he was trained in the Navy for twelve years as an electrician and he has truly blessed us having him here.

You would be surprised because, you just never know where our truckers have come from or where they are going. They are from every background, culture and faith you can possible think of...they are not just truckers...they are all very special individuals.

We are always blessed to welcome drivers to our open doors and now that the Road Angel Cafe' is opened when the rooster crows at 5 a.m. on week days & 6 a.m. on weekends, we are seeing more and more drivers stop in! Debra, or one of our other staff members, will fix you a fine hot breakfast just the way you like it! Stop in and visit us if your in our area!

We are just getting started with our blog and hope to have some
photo's for you to enjoy in the near future.

Remember to mark your calendars for our next 5 day long Fall Jamboree, with live entertainment, food, and fellowship. It will be held every year ~ late September ~ Early October. We'll be posting the dates soon!
